Our Mission

CONNECT

As the Church (the body of Christ)

one main role is to connect with one another, lifting one another up and encouraging each other.

1 Thessalonians. 5:11

GROW

Growth takes many forms, whether growing closer to one another, growing as a human being, or growing in our relationship with Christ.

Colossians 1:10

LIVE

This is simply the idea that Christ should be changing our lives every single day. We are to take up our crosses daily to follow Jesus, living lives of self-sacrifice and radical love, that others might find Jesus.

Luke 9:23

Our Core Values

Our Core Values are the essence of our identity and support the vision
of our denomination and help shape our culture.

Our Beliefs

We are a Great Commission church. As a global community of faith, we are

commissioned to TAKE THE GOOD NEWS OF LIFE IN JESUS CHRIST to people

everywhere and to spread the message of scriptural holiness across lands.

AGREED STATEMENT OF BELIEF

  • WE BELIEVE in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • WE BELIEVE that human beings are born with a fallen nature, and are, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.

  • WE BELIEVE that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.

  • WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

  • WE BELIEVE that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living

  • WE BELIEVE that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.

  • WE BELIEVE that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • WE BELIEVE that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.

Our Articles of Faith

In order that we may preserve our God-given heritage, the faith once delivered to the saints, especially the doctrine and experience of entire sanctification as a second work of grace, and also that we may cooperate effectually with other branches of the Church of Jesus Christ in advancing God’s kingdom, we, the ministers and lay members of the Church of the Nazarene, in accordance with the principles of constitutional legislation established among us, do hereby ordain, adopt, and set forth as the fundamental law or Constitution of the Church of the Nazarene the Articles of Faith, the Covenant of Christian Character, and the Articles of Organization and Government here following, to wit:

Our Team
Scott & Donna Buell

Pastor Scott is grateful to be at Winfield Church of the Nazarene as the Senior Pastor since September 2020. He seeks to live in the truth of Romans 15:13, "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

Donna, his wife, is an integral part of our church serving as co-worship leader, and also works in our children's department.

Our History

It all started in a tent...

The Winfield church began in a tent revival September 4, 1983. From there, in a storefront setting on Main Street in Winfield, WV a church was planted. It was officially organized June 3, 1984 with 16 charter members. The church moved to the current location at 10822 Winfield Road in 1985. After expanding our facilities to better serve the community in 2003, we currently serve Putnam County in a beautiful setting on the banks of the Kanawha River.

The church is a part of the Nazarene West Virginia South District which includes 52 Nazarene churches from Charleston to the southern parts of the state. We participate in several activities with other churches throughout the year through our youth, children's and mission programs.
